GM is moving production of the 2012 Chevrolet Malibu to the Detroit based Hamtramck plant. It will be built along side the 2011 Chevy Volt that is slated for release in fall of to 201o. The current Chevy Malibu is produced at GM's Fairfax plant in Kansas.
