Swiss Motorist Fined More Than $250,000

Speeding tickets are expensive right? Well how about forking over 299,000 Swiss francs ($290,000 USD) for getting caught? That is what one anonymous millionaire had to do at a Swiss court in St. Gallen. The fee was based off of the speeders net worth.

The Swiss police clocked the Ferrari Testarossa at 62mph while going through a village and up to speeds of 85mph on country roads. $290,000 may sound like a lot, but to someone who has a 23.3 million francs fortune; equivalent to $22.5 million USD, it is petty cash.

Chevy Volt May Start at Under $40,000

John Lauckner, GM's head of global program management, told the Wall Street Journal that the new Chevy Volt could sell for well under the expected $40,000 price tag. As much that is known about the new electric vehicle, GM has been very quiet about pricing.

The $40,000 price tag has been widely speculated by many sources, though no one is sure if it includes the $7,500 federal tax credit. Don't expect a final price to be set until the end of 2010. 2011 Chevy Volts should hit the showroom floors around November, but no wide scale launch is planned until well into 2011.

Porsche Says No To Hybrid Sports Cars

Porsche's new hybrid versions of the Cayenne SUV and the Panamera are expect to begin production soon, though the German automaker has no plans to include their hybrid technology in any of their sports cars.

Porsche may not planning a hybrid drivetrain for any of its current sports cars, they are planning an all-electric sports car to compete with Mercedes-Benz and Audi. Porsche is not shying away from all new hybrid technology, Porsche does want some new technology in their sports cars like brake regeneration and start-stop technology.
