From 2008 to 2009 the Chinese auto market grew by 45 percent. 13.9 million cars were sold in China last year compared to 10.4 million cars sold in America. The American car market plummeted 21 percent last year.
China is expected to become the world's largest car market in the next ten years. Both Ford and GM saw significant increases in sales in China in 2009.

Car Fact of the Day
The Saturn Corporation was specifically created to help GM compete against the success of Japanese automakers. Established on January 7, 1985, Saturn operated separately from GM for some time, with its own assembly plant, range of unique models, and a different retail network.-Anthony Alaniz

Ferrari Theme Park
Ferrari World Abu Dhabi is the world's first Ferrari theme park. Ferrari is 0ffering 20 "state-of-art rides and attractions." It includes the worlds fastest roller coaster, hitting 124mph. Also offered are F1 racing simulators, a racing school, and a journey through a Ferrari 599 engine.

Chevy Volt's First Battery Produced
Today, at the $43 million dollar renovated GM Brownstown Battery Pack Assembly Plant, the first lithium-ion battery for the new Volt rolled off the line. GM will be shipping the batteries off to the Detroit-Hamtramck plant this spring where the Volt will be produced. Regular production at both plants is planned to start in the fourth quarter of 2010.

Term of the Day
Dynamometer (Dyno) - A machine that is used to measure the horsepower and torque of an engine. There are two types of dynamometers: One measures the powered delivered to the flywheel, the second measures the power delivered to the rear wheels.
