John Lauckner, GM's head of global program management, told the Wall Street Journal that the new Chevy Volt could sell for well under the expected $40,000 price tag. As much that is known about the new electric vehicle, GM has been very quiet about pricing. The $40,000 price tag has been widely speculated by many sources, though no one is sure if it includes the $7,500 federal tax credit. Don't expect a final price to be set until the end of 2010. 2011 Chevy Volts should hit the showroom floors around November, but no wide scale launch is planned until well into 2011.
