
GM is investing $700 million dollars into some of its Michigan facilities to help build the new Chevrolet Volt. GM is spending $336 million to re-tool the Detroit-Hamtrack assembly plant to produce the new Volt. Production of pre-pilot Volts should start around March of 2010. Also included in the investment is a new engine line at the Flint Southgate engine plant, and a battery pack assembly plant in Brownstown Township.
