On November 30th, 2009 the Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama Assembly Line produced its one millionth vehicle. The 2010 Hyundai Sonata, one of the last to be built after the plant retooled for the 2011 model year, was the milestone car. Production began in May of 2005 at the plant, and now produces both the Sonata and Santa Fe. The plant employs 2,700 people.
